Next Generation Packaging Solutions | Arnold Packaging
Our Approach to Packaging
For over 90 years, Arnold Packaging has provided solutions that reduce costs and optimize packaging processes for businesses in the Mid-Atlantic region. We’ve distilled our unique approach into six core pillars…
Minimize Damage
Product damage can jeopardize future orders and impact your business. Our packaging experts can help by assessing your product’s specific needs and develop a tailored solution that balances protection with cost-efficiency.
With a technically proficient sales team and skilled packaging engineers, we design high-performance packaging to ensure your product reaches its destination safely and intact. Just as we did for this happy customer.

Lower Freight Costs
The three biggest variable costs in a shipping operation? Freight, labor, and packaging materials.
And the biggest of these? Freight.
Freight costs are largely based on package weight. As the weight increases, so does the cost. You can find numbers on this here.
The best ways to cut freight expenses are to make packages lighter, smaller — or reduce the number of shipments. While we can’t always control the weight of the product itself, we can minimize packaging load without sacrificing performance or increasing the risk of damage.
In addition to actual weight, dimensional weight* also plays a role in shipping costs. So another way to reduce freight costs is to decrease the number of packages being shipped.
Our packaging experts have the tools and expertise to evaluate your specific needs and recommend the right solutions to help you boost profitability — just as we helped this company save money.
*Also known as volumetric weight, dimensional weight is calculated by dividing the exterior dimensions of the box by 139.
Reduce With Redesign
When you update your product’s packaging, you’re probably looking to save on material costs and see an immediate boost to your bottom line. At Arnold Packaging, we go beyond that, finding ways to unlock ongoing cost savings at every stage — from the creation of a custom-designed package to delivery to the end user.
It’s not just about using less material. We can show you how switching to higher-performance materials can actually be more cost-effective because you’ll need less. Smaller or collapsible containers can free up valuable warehouse space, and best of all… lighter packaging helps cut down on shipping costs.
We also specialize in custom inserts, allowing you to pack more products per container, reducing the number of containers you need to ship the same amount of product. It’s also a chance to improve product protection, cutting down on damage that leads to costly replacements and impacts customer satisfaction.
Our packaging pros will create a solution using a combination of the best, most advanced, and proprietary packaging materials in the industry. Ready to get started? Fill out a quick contact form here and we’ll be in touch soon!
Increase Productivity
Productivity drives profitability — it’s all about producing more with fewer man-hours. Overtime is costly, increases injury risk, and can hurt quality due to fatigue. Temporary labor and off-shift productivity often fall short.
Automation is the key to controlling labor costs and maintaining profitability.
Our team can assess your operations and recommend the right automation to help you produce more with fewer workers, or boost production with the same staff. The result? Increased sales and efficiency.

Customer Experience
Your customers expect an exceptional experience when engaging with your product, and their first impression comes from your packaging. That means packaging that’s visually appealing, easy to open, and presents the product attractively. And, of course, in today’s market, return-friendly packaging is essential.
The quality of this experience directly impacts whether customers will return for future purchases. Consider every touchpoint your customer will have with your product and its packaging.
While aesthetics matter, factors like ease of use and safety are equally critical.
And last but not at all least…
Product Sustainability
“Recycling, packaging, businesses are changing all of those things because that’s what consumers want.”
– Jerry Greenfield, Co-founder of Ben & Jerry’s Ice Cream
If there is a single hot trend in packaging right now, it’s sustainability. How hot? Rutgers University now has a Packaging & Supply Train Sustainability Concentration available.
Arnold Packaging can help you choose the right packaging materials to enhance sustainability and reduce packaging waste.
The three “R’s” are essential: reuse, reduce, and recycle. Reusing materials is the most effective. Each reuse keeps materials out of the waste stream and reduces packaging costs with every subsequent use.
Redesigning or rethinking your packaging to minimize material use and waste at the end of the shipping cycle also boosts sustainability.
Finally, selecting recyclable materials, such as corrugated cardboard (the variety of options may astound you!), paper, and certain plastics, as part of your packaging solution will further enhance sustainability.

Our Packaging Solutions
Containers
Arnold Packaging offers a wide selection of containers in all shapes, sizes, and quantities. But here’s the thing, we go beyond just packaging…
We’ll suggest innovative materials or designs to reduce shipping weight or maximize product per shipment, lowering your costs. We’ll also evaluate your equipment, workflow, and logistics to provide a complete solution for optimizing the packaging and shipping aspects of your supply chain.
The best part? If we don’t have exactly what you’re looking for, we’ll design and manufacture it ourselves! Be it for a missile, an airplane wing, a chandelier, or luxury cosmetics, we’ve got the design and crate you need.
We start with the basics… the right kind of container for your product.
Looking For a Wood Crate?
We’re proud to be the leading company in the Mid-Atlantic for custom-manufactured wooden containers.
We can meet military specifications and comply with the ISPM-15 measures required for exportation. And we’ll add custom features like hinges, ramps and labeling. Just call us at 1-855-ARNOLDS and ask.
Prefer corrugated containers?
We’ve got all types of corrugated containers on site and ready to deliver to your door. Need a customized crate? We got you! We can produce one or thousands in single-wall, double-wall and triple-wall strengths. Want the ultimate corrugated strength? We’ve got you there, too… ECORRCRATE™ is made by cross laminating sheets of corrugated. When assembled, a container made from these sheets can meet — or exceed! — the strengths of many wood containers.
Completely customizable and light, they can be made water-resistant and are easily recyclable. (Available with custom foam inserts, bracing or other materials.)
But it doesn’t end there…
Shipping containers for every purpose…
We’ve got folding cartons, rigid paperboard boxes (aka set up boxes), military-grade plastic cases, cushioned and non-cushioned mailers from Jiffy, pails and metal drums in a range of dimensions and thicknesses… and so much more. You can read more about these items here.
Many are in stock right now ready to ship to you. Just contact us here or give us a call at 1-855-ARNOLDS to discuss your packaging needs. Or if you’re ready to order now, go to our online store here.
Classic Packaging
The Greeks and Romans used large ceramic amphorae from around 1500 BCE to 500 CE to ship wine, olive oil and other products. They were designed to be economical to produce and ship. The distinctive shape, particularly the pointed base or “toe”, made it easier to handle, store and transport.
Within the Container Packaging Materials
At Arnold Packaging, protecting your product — and your profit — is our business. We’ll help you find the exact right packaging supplies to avoid damage.
Here’s just a few of the products we have ready to ship to you…
Polyethylene Foam
We can help with custom die cutting polyethylene foam inserts, trays and more to accommodate your product — and save your business money.
Polyurethane Foam
For delicate and fragile items, we can build custom dies from polyurethane to create fabricated-foam packaging for your products. Polyethylene roll foam is moisture resistant, provides thermal insulation, and reduces less waste than heavier packaging materials.
Expanded Polystyrene Foam (EPS)
Strong yet lightweight, polystyrene foam easily adapts to unique product shapes and surfaces.
Molded Pulp
Not just for egg cartons anymore, we can design and supply molded pulp that protects your products while being environmentally friendly — a major concern for many consumers.
Korrvu®
Korrvu® packaging uses a corrugated outer carton and a non-slip film to protect fragile items during shipping. It can also be used for return shipments!
“Packaging can be theater, it can create a story.”
– Steve Jobs
Bubblewrap
We distribute Sealed Air’s Bubble Wrap. A full air bubble is maintained by a mixing of nylon and polyethylene, providing a barrier that holds air. Learn more by calling us at 1-855-ARNOLDS.

Step One: Consultation and Needs Assessment
- Initial Meeting: The process begins with a consultation to understand your specific packaging needs, challenges, and goals. If you simply needed standard-sized boxes for example, we’d place your order and you’d likely have them the next day. But if you’re looking for customized solutions…
- Site Visit (if needed): We may come to your facility to get a firsthand look at the packaging processes and materials being used.
- Requirement Analysis (if needed): An in-depth analysis is performed to understand packaging requirements, including product dimensions, shipping methods, safety standards, and budget constraints.
Step Two: Solution Development
- Custom Packaging Design: Based on the assessment, Arnold Packaging may design custom packaging solutions that cater specifically to your products, ensuring the items are protected and presented well.
- Material Selection: We’d recommend the best materials based on factors like durability, weight, eco-friendliness, and cost.
- Prototype Creation: A prototype may be created to give a tangible idea of what the final packaging will look like. This allows for testing and feedback.
Step Three: Testing and Refinement
- Packaging Testing: The proposed solution is tested to ensure it meets all safety and quality standards. This might include stress tests, drop tests, and other assessments.
- Feedback: You’d review the prototype and test results. Adjustments and refinements are made based on feedback

Why invest in custom packaging?
Investing in custom packaging elevates brand identity, enhances customer experiences, and differentiates products from competitors while providing practical benefits like product protection and regulatory compliance. While it may involve higher initial costs, custom packaging can reduce long-term expenses through optimized designs and eco-friendly materials, ultimately increasing the perceived value of products and driving customer loyalty and profitability.
What’s the hottest trend in packaging?
Hands down, sustainability has become the hottest trend in packaging. Today’s consumers are more conscious of the impact of packaging waste, prompting brands to shift towards sustainable materials such as recycled paper, biodegradable plastics, and reusable containers. Companies are increasingly adopting minimalist designs to reduce material usage and improve recyclability.
“Consider climate, equity, health, and waste prevention, as well as whether the product can be reused, repaired, or recycled.”
