We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Plant Manager to oversee all manufacturing activities at our facility, specializing in the production of wood and corrugated shipping containers. The Plant Manager will be responsible for directing production, engineering, scheduling, and ensuring efficient day-to-day operations. This position will manage a team of approximately 25 hourly workers, 2 engineers, and 1 scheduler.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership & Supervision:
Provide leadership and direction for all manufacturing operations, including production, scheduling, and engineering departments. Manage and mentor a team of approximately 25 hourly employees, 2 engineers, and 1 scheduler, ensuring alignment with production goals and quality standards.

Production Management:
Oversee the production process, ensuring the efficient use of resources, compliance with quality standards, and on-time delivery of products. Optimize workflow, identify bottlenecks, and implement process improvements to maximize productivity.

Engineering Oversight:
Work closely with the engineering team to ensure product designs and processes meet production requirements. Drive continuous improvement initiatives and lean manufacturing principles to reduce waste and improve production efficiency.

Scheduling & Coordination:
– Collaborate with the scheduling team to ensure production schedules are realistic and align with customer demand. Monitor daily production metrics and ensure that timelines and deadlines are met.
– Implement new scheduling software called just plan it.

Quality Control & Safety:
Implement and enforce safety protocols to maintain a safe working environment. Ensure that all products meet or exceed quality standards and regulatory requirements.

Budgeting & Cost Control:
Manage the plant’s budget, focusing on cost control and reducing operational expenses. Evaluate and improve resource allocation, material usage, and labor efficiency to enhance profitability.

Reporting & Communication: 
Provide regular reports to senior management on production performance, labor efficiency, and other key operational metrics. Communicate effectively across all departments to maintain clear alignment with company goals.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Industrial Engineering, Operations Management, Manufacturing, or a related field (preferred but not required)
• 5+ years of experience in manufacturing management, with at least 3 years in a plant management role
• Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
• Experience in lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies
• Familiarity with manufacturing processes for wood and corrugated products (preferred)
• Proficient in production scheduling and resource planning software
• Strong understanding of safety regulations and quality control standards
