Arnold Packaging Names Colin Jesien VP, GM

Former Director of Manufacturing at Medifast to Lead Continuous Improvement, Supply Chain and Workforce Development Efforts

Baltimore, Md. — Arnold Packaging, the comprehensive packaging company, announced today the appointment of Colin Jesien to vice president and general manager, a newly created role at the nearly 85-year old company. Jesien will focus on continuous improvement, supply chain and workforce developmentwith goals to reduce lead times for clients, enhance quality and safety standards, and augment Arnold Packaging’s recruitment efforts.

“Colin has an incredibly unique background. He is a degreed packaging engineer; he has extensive experience driving results for in-house manufacturers; he is Six Sigma Green Belt certified; and he is an expert in lean manufacturing, process improvement and quality control,” said Mick Arnold, president and CEO of Arnold Packaging. “His depth of experience brings a fresh and strategic perspective that helps elevate the core of our business and mission: increasing customer profitability.”

An expert in plant operations, supply chain and continuous improvement, Jesien previously served as director of manufacturing at Medifast, where he was responsible for more than $2.5 million in labor and $30 million in finished goods. There, he grew Medifast’s capacity by 212%, developed a packaging strategy that resulted in significant annualized savings, reduced manufacturing yield loss by 35% and successfully on-boarded the company’s second distribution center.

Jesien is focused on process improvement, evaluating the company’s manufacturing and distribution processes and reducing costs through transportation modeling. He has led the firm’s workforce development efforts by partnering with local nonprofits such as Center for Urban Families and Christopher’s Place, evaluating internal training programs and working with the Department of Labor to improve team education. He has also spearheaded Arnold Packaging’s sustainability initiatives, which includes registering the company with Maryland Green Registry and ensuring the company meets its annual sustainability commitments.

Jesien earned his Bachelor of Science in packaging science from Rochester Institute of Technology and his Master of Business Administration from Clarkson University.
